coda muso
let music move you
Listening to and creating music is my medicine. It has a transformative effect on my wellbeing. Emotional resonance shall we say.
I love the way it heals and frees the soul ...
For me, performing music is not just a platform to express creativity, it's about sharing, lifting, enlightening..
I started out as a poet, had work published at the age of 9 in local newspapers. Later in life (early twenties) my first band was an opportunity to sing my poems ... and dress up on stage.... People's choice of clothes will tell a story about them, don't you think?
I loved the opportunity to blend visuals, poetry and music..
My creative process is quite basic.
Voice and pen - my tools of trade.
Lyrics pop into my head usually a response to some sort of emotion.. then the melody. Later I arrange the tune using two fingers on the keyboard, looking for chords.. then it's off to the studio to pick out rhythms and beats.
As a solo artist, I appreciate the challenge of just me stripped back to the rawness ... just me being me and wondering if it is enough! I also like
to ‘colab’ with other musicians when it's affordable...
Apart from music, I've worked in stand-up comedy, film and dance. I love performance art.
To fully appreciate my songs I feel they need to be seen, not just heard... as I bring them to life through videos.. or
on stage where I feel the most authentic... Performing, entertaining, lifting the vibe... that feels more real to me than everyday life stuff.
Audiences describe me as Indie, alternative, edgy, eccentric and I quote...
"coda muso.. a bit of a fruit loop... an extraordinary 'live' performer who hooks you from the get-go, whether its moody and melodic or upbeat...she will tantalise you..."
Ha ha ha I liked that - tantalise.. least it's not tenderise...like in cooking a steak or something..
So anyway...that's me..
Now back to you...
I thank you for reading all this and I hope you enjoy my work. Let my music move you in some way,
provoke an emotion or thought or entertain you... and always remember..
"Be your authentic self!"
